It's like WW2, Hitler v. Stalin. As a practical matter the U.S. had to be roughly allied with one of them, if only temporarily. The Nazis winning was totally unacceptable since they would have controlled all of Europe--with the Soviets, they only got half. Sometimes your choice is to eat either a whole shit sandwich or just half. That's the Florida GOP--half a shit sandwich.
