I have a Tisas 1911 and it’s a sound gun!
Everything works just as it should.
No mushy safety or creepy trigger!
Picked up mine for just under $400.
Don’t know about now…

Buy once, cry once. I have the same model in a different color and it is smooth as silk.

FWIW, the guys who did the American Gunsmith 1911 video series went to Turkey to help the Tisas group get their gun running perfectly. It's probably the best cheap 1911 out there, although it's pretty basic.

hose Ruger 1911's look sweet, and I may just buy a matched set down the line but for now the Tisas 1911 GI models seem to be what I'm looking for.

I also hadn't considered a Norinco 1911 since the secret about how good they were seemed to break about 25 years ago sight after they banned further imports and their prices shot up way out of range, but after looking it up, it looks like some of them may be available at more reasonable prices now. I wonder if the quality of the Tisas and other Turkish guns affected the prices on the Norincos. In any case I'll be doing my homework.
