I bought a bunch last year when it went up to IIRC $5.34 (it was like $4.88 for years). Only problem is the new requirement on the cans is that they have a rubber valve device instead of a place you just pierce through. This is to prevent the refrigerant from leaking out when you take off your set of gauges.
The downside is that these will then slowly leak over time, just like any canned stuff with a valve would.
Does this end up with more refrigerant leaking into the atmosphere than otherwise? Probably. That's the government for you.

Sorry to revive this old thread. I just bought a case. Bidumb just signed the agreement to ban all R134a refrigerant as part of his climate BS. Meaning that Hunter got the "big shit guy" a cut of all the AC systems that will have to be replaced...
I not sweating my ass off for these kommie cock suckers...

They banned the once common r12, r22 but you can still buy it only pricy.
A 30lb can r12 used to be wholesale a dollar a lb. Now a full can will set you back 1800.00.
Same with r22, typical old house ac unit. $1 a lb now 400 a 30lb can
There are too many cars and reefers that house r134a to make it go away totally. Same with r22. Many people cant afford to put in a new house ac unit at the typical cost of 7 or 8 grand.
Feel sorry for the cars running 1234YF, a substitute for r134a by 2021. It's very flammable.

$hit, I still have cans that were $4.88. For that matter I still have a case of R-12 that I’ve had since 03. Maybe I’ll trade the R-12 for a nice gun. LOL. GARY
Unless you are kidding, careful how you sell/trade that stuff. Take a look at the ad I have up in buy/sell/trade other forum, to see the waiver certificate that has to be signed by buyer for your own protection.

I looked up R22 last week and at $1900 for new 30 lb! (not recycled from pump outs) Even ebay is selling 5lbs. for $250 and up!

Is anyone still using R12? I think I still have some lying around, but didn't know anyone who was still using it. I thought everything with R12 had already been retrofitted by now.
