New ATF reg’s.
As if someone buying a gun for resale is going to answer honestly.
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a Single Star.
That’s what he said, & I specifically asked him about the engraving, & 922 US parts content. But that was only for the amnesty form 1’s. People who choose to pay $200 still have to abide by the old rules. But you know with these guys, the rules can change tomorrow. Would one method to avoid this be, buy a 16" barrel (or a full upper) & install?
Didn't say it was the cheapest, but interchangeable parts are just one of the great features of an AR15.
So......when the ruling gets changed gain (which always seems to happen), simply reinstall the pistol upper.
Currently legal to change an original AR15 pistol to a rifle (and back again), BUT not to change an original rifle to a pistol
Or am I missing something? Thanks for any help, Bob

Yes, a pistol can be a rifle, & back to a pistol. But not the other way around. The agent specifically stated the cheapest solution was to throw the brace in the trash, or make it unusable. Next was to buy a 16” upper. He then stated “you could destroy the weapon, or turn it in to the ATF, but the first two solutions were preferable”. Wouldn't you also have to change out the tube to a smooth tube like the Phase5, since he said not tube with six notches? My pistol came with a breace and a tube with notches when I bought it from the manufacturer. They sure make it clear a swamp mud.
The non-requirement for engraving is troubling. A Form 1 is an application to manufacture an NFA weapon. The person applying becomes the manufacturer. I guess their logic is that the gun was made by the OEM as a SBR, but in that case, these should be going on a Form 4. The ATF is just making things up out of thin air.
Yes. He did say a smooth tube with no notches would be fine. GARY.
And yes, that was a question too. He said the MFR’s engraving would suffice. But I suspect something’s going on, because he said if you wanted to pay the $200, & avoid the amnesty form 1, the old rules would apply. The gal was from the WPB office, but the guy was from the Miami office, & he was the “brace specialist”. Oh, one other question asked was about buying a gun from a FFL if the buyer has a medical marijuana card. Totally illegal, but it’s totally legal to own a firearm if you bought it before you got the card. This meeting went from 9-10 AM, & the last half hour was all about the brace. So this is a BS question in my opinion
" do you intend to sell, or dispose of any firearms listed on this form”?"
At what point in your ownership of said weapon do you decide to sell the weapon?
1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year, 10 years?
There are people that buy weapons and then down the road decide they want to sell it.
