I wonder when the newly appointed SOE will have to face an election? Broward voters can at least enjoy some credibility until then.

Then the county would probably vote snipes back in

If you remember her ousted predicessor, Miriam Oliphant, who was elected in 2001 had fired and replaced all the experienced workers with her cronies and mismanaged the budget. Jeb replaced her with Snipes who is also African American and while didn’t mismanage the budget, seems to have kept the same poor standards. Of course there’s no one to blame but democrats in her office so there won’t be much of any investigation.

So I guess bank robbers (murders, drug dealers, child molesters, etc.) can retire from their trades, and - since they retired - won't be prosecuted for their crimes either?

The did the jobs they came to do too. She gets away simply by retiring <GROAN>.

The rules are for you, not the employees of the corporation.

Gov. Scott suspends Broward elections supervisor Brenda Snipes and replaces her with close ally

https://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/polit ... story.html

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has suspended Broward County elections supervisor Brenda Snipes and is appointing a close ally to replace her.

Peter Antonacci, president and CEO of the business development organization Enterprise Florida, will serve for the remainder of Snipes term until a replacement can be chosen by voters in November 2020.

Scott cited “missed deadlines” and “lost ballots” as reasons for suspending Snipes, who had already announced she was resigning effective Jan. 4.

“After a series of inexcusable actions, it’s clear that there needs to be an immediate change in Broward County and taxpayers should no longer be burdened by paying a salary for a Supervisor of Elections who has already announced resignation,” Scott said in a prepared statement.

Reached Friday night by the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Antonacci deferred questions to the governor’s office.

His appointment means he’ll oversee the 2020 presidential election in Broward County.

Before joining Enterprise Florida, he served as executive director of the South Florida Water Management District and as general counsel for the governor. He also served as state attorney in Palm Beach County.
