I know, that’s the one hesitation I had. But, I think my “fiddling” days are past. There a few things I want to move out, and I’ll stick with a couple (or few) 45s I have. Too old for range days with good calibers, even my inner-child wants (45/70 lever) are likely to be too much to shoot more than a couple rounds. Hunting? My trudging in the woods days are past, too.

But, your point is well taken, and a good reminder for someone who still buys and sells, and buys something different. Were I 15 years younger, my answer would be different, too.

Last time I got pulled over, probably 15 years ago, was in Lee County. I handed the officer my license and CWL, as the instructor in the license course years earlier told the class to do. He told me to keep my hands on the wheel. No issues. I think under the current, permitless carry environment, the best thing might just be keep one’s mouth shut and hands where the officer can see them. The trouble can arise in other states, whether reciprocal with CWL or if they are permitless as well, and their laws require officer notification.

My CWL expires in May and, despite the legitimate reasons for keeping one, I may just cruise on the permitless. At my ancient age, I’ll likely not be traveling outside of FL anyway (maybe GA, too) and the “shut mouth” would be the way to go.

Just remember, no CWP means you have the 3-5 day “cooling off period” to get a gun from a FFL. GARY
