There is no substitute for time. Also whatever PT is required, even though it sucks.

I had OT and PT for 2 hours each day, 6 days a week at the VA. Going from helpless to semi-functional sucked. I'll be getting PT 3X week at home now for the next couple of months.

This is just crazy! Glad that you are OK. You having a great insurance and backups is great. But man it sucks that they other person was so careless and has literally NOTHING!! To have that type of background on her and almost kill a person now is just insane to be out of jail like nothing! Hope you have a speedy recovery sir!

I figured an update is in order...

I continue to rehab at home with zero chance of returning to work until at least some time in April. If I had to guess, I'd wager an extension of a few more weeks after that will be in order. I'm still non-weight bearing with a substantial amount of pain. To be honest, I don't think I've progressed in weeks.

The person who hit me (Andresa Phillips) had her arraignment last week. She plead not guilty. Then today, I found out out the State Attorney's Office DROPPED her felony charge of Driving While License Canceled/Suspended or Revoked Causing Serious Bodily Injury or Death. Instead, they're seeking a simple Knowingly Driving with a Suspended License. Why? Because her license was suspended for not paying other tickets. The State Attorney's Office has a policy of not seeking felony charges due to suspension for "Financial Reasons" Never mind all the other times she's been arrested for driving on a suspended license and how she's eligible to labeled as a Habitual Offender. She almost killed me and has cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills, yet she'll probably get a sub- $500 fine and not spend a night in jail.

For those of you unfamiliar, The State Attorney for Hillsborough County is Suzy Lopez. She was appointed by Governor Desantis in 2021 after sacking Andrew Warren for refusing to charge felonies and basically installing a revolving door on the jailhouse entrance by refusing to charge in general. It appears that Lopez is no better. Feel free to light her up via X, FB, and/or by phone. Hell, fax her if you're feeling old school. The Assistant SA handling my case is Alexandra Lee.

Very disappointed with The charges on that lady she getting another slap on the wrist insane how they treat criminals better than law-abiding citizens.

I think you may be able to get a victim advocate to get with the DA to reinstate the charges. If the driver has done this before she needs to be behind bars so she doesn't do it again.

I have an appointment with the Deputy State Attorney next week. We'll see how that goes. As far as Victim's Assistance... they're less than useless.

This is the reason we need to bring back debtors' prisons and not just a lounging and watch tv stay. We need to develop industry with prisons and prisoners need to work 40 hours just like most of us have done and the wages they earn go to paying off their victims, taxpayers and not towards commissary.
So sick of the great unwashed of society not giving a crap of what they do.
