During a past election (2000 maybe) on C-span the candidate for the US Communist party was asked why his party wasn't doing so well in elections.
His reply was because the Democrats had adopted the Communist platform.
No kidding, I personally heard it, as I was waiting to hear the Libertarian Harry Browne speak.
