Five weeks ago, I didn't know these existed. Friend of ours retired and bought one to play around with in his newfound spare time. Now I'm fired up to make one with my son - and I don't even play guitar. Yet.

I've been into them for years and have built 6 or so.
Arturo Fuente Sr had one in his personal museum.
I can build some that look like works of art but sound like shit.
Then I can build some that look like a 5 year old made them with a butter knife and they sound magical.
I have enough stuff laying around for another 6 if you need anything.

Thanks - I've got everything for the first one except the fret wire, and it'll be here Friday. I'm not expecting a Stratocaster - just hoping for something that makes noises vaguely resembling music. The main purpose is an interesting way to hold my son's attention long enough to teach him a little more about using tools. Anything better's just a bonus.

That is some pretty cool stuff right there. Look forward to hearing how this project goes.

I might be inspired to start another one.
I need to get up off my retired ass and do something!
