HK USP 9/40 Compact

Well I've been getting into HK the last several months. Picked up a P30 V3 in 9mm, P30sk V3, P2000 V2 in 40 S&W with an extra 357sig barrel and finally a USP9c. Years ago I had a Glock 23.3 that I liked fairly well except for the finger grooves. Just don't like Glock finger grooves on their compact sized pistols. So I ended up trading it off years ago. Always liked that size of pistol though and always liked 40 S&W. I personally don't consider any service caliber as being head-n-shoulders above any other service caliber, but I've always liked 40 S&W 'just cause'.
So I picked up the USP9c and then yesterday came across a complete upper in 40 for it. Slide, sights, barrel, RSA, internals and one mag. I didn't know that the frames were the same in the compact 9/40/357 pistols so it was new information for me. Picked it up this morning. Ordered a couple more mags for it (at a pretty good price for HK mags, they were $33 each new) because I like to have at least 3 if not more. Debating if I want to swap the night sights on the 9mm slide over to the 40 slide or just spring for new ones.
This gives me a G23 sized pistol. The USP is 5-6 ounces heavier but from what I've been reading it is the first and possibly only pistol designed for the 40 from the ground up rather than converting an existing 9mm model over to 40. It is built like a tank. And although I like striker-fired pistol, my preference has always run towards hammer-fired, DA/SA pistols. Particularly if they have a manual thumb safety/decocker which I like.
So kind of a fun retirement project pistol for me. May get a 357sig barrel down the road. Not a huge 357sig fan but again, just because and make it into a 3-in-1 pistol.
May slip it into the EDC rotation when it's all complete.
