If this is real, I am super relieved. At least for now until they try it at the national level (again).

With slick wording.

It all about safety, common sense and the children. Who can resist safety and something that is good for children.

That one's a little stale - publication date is May 06, 2018.

The proposed amendment would not have been on the 2020 ballot, anyway - they had less than 20% of the signatures needed to make it. They needed 766,200 signatures by January 2, in order to be certified by February 1, 2020 - they gathered less than 150,000. BUT if the court had ruled the language was acceptable, they could've kept gathering signatures in hopes of placing it on the 2022 ballot, since signatures for ballot initiatives are good for two years. This opinion means they can't use the signatures already collected, and have to re-write the ballot summary and start over, which they will certainly do.

With the number of New Yorkers who will move to Florida due to the way their state handled COVID-19, this fight isn't over by a longshot. Get ready.

Going forward, wasn’t there some sort of legislation that was in place to make it more difficult to amend the state constitution?
