Can I gift a handgun to a family member (brother) who's a resident of another state? I'm in FL obviously, he's in TN. Do we need to do a transfer or can I just hand it to him and be done?
AP
EDIT TO ADD: I would not be shipping it, he will be here in person this Christmas...

Now that the question has been asked publicly, there is only 1 legal answer.....
It has to be transferred to him by an FFL in his home state.....a FL FFL can't transfer a handgun to a TN resident

I have transferred 8 guns to my son in Colorado. My FFL, $55 each for handguns, $50 long guns. Receiving FFL charged $35 each. Expensive but no hassles and Perfect packing, shipping and delivery. If you do it "non FFL" to FFL in another state, I sent a Colt 6920 to Mass, cost $100 FedEx 2nd day. Joe

A few years ago my brother was visiting from Atlanta. He brought a few S&W’s, & we took them to a local range. He mentioned he wanted to sell one of them. He was here, I was here, & the gun was here. So we did a FTF sale. GARY.
