Howdy from Albuquerque!

Post by mohshard »

Moved to NM from Davie in Jun 2021. Relocated for the wife's job, and so the kids could have "free" college (NM has a tuition reimbursement plan for residents returning to school or graduating in NM and attending a state school). Remodeling an old home, working on a NM contractor license, and starting a new job have kept me hopping, but finally done with the worst of it.

Missed participating in the forum, so logged back in and am trying to catch up.

Hope you're all doing well.

What do the gun laws look like there? I hear Democrats got control and are trying to make it look like CA.

Open carry allowed unless in prohibited areas.
Shall issue CWP.
Plenty of BLM (bureau of land management) spaces for shooting.
No gun bans yet.
Person to person sales are supposed to get a BGC, but many don't.
No automatic knives.

Dems trying to infringe hard right now and a term-limited dem governor who will sign off on any anti-gun legislation.
I'm emailing/calling/mailing legislators and letting them know my opinion.

Major catch and release with criminals of all stripes.

New Mexico is beautiful, although ABQ would not be my first choice there. However, the government has been trending the wrong way, although I don't think it is a lost cause yet. So good luck carrying the battle forward.

Ruger SP101, I believe.

My wife works in pediatric surgery, so no other hospitals for that other in NM than UNMH.

Good to see you still around, Ian.

It's a beautiful state, have been snowshoeing, hiking, and been to Mexico twice. Should be heading back in March or April to visit family.

Best of luck to you out there. Medical specialists have to go where the action is, for sure. ABQ is not a bad place compared to many other cities elsewhere, and the plus side is in a very short drive you are out in some incredible wilderness. NM is one of my favorite states to visit.I have probably been there at least 10 times in the last 30 years (last in 2021). I took my wife there before we were married (flew into ABQ, went to Santa Fe and Taos, and up into Colorado afterward).
