With Rubio being selected to be Trump's SoS. It leaves a vacant slot for DeSantis to appoint. Word is in Tallahassee that Ashely Moody will be tapped. With a vacant FL AG slot, the current FL SoS, Cord Byrd will be appointed by DeSantis to finish her term.

What about Rick Grennell? What Cabinet position can he hold, now? I though SOS was perfect for him.

What would be DeSantis's motive for that? There would have to be a hell of a quid pro quo somewhere behind the scenes.

Matt Gaetz withdrew himself from being the AG.
The Senate was going to subpoena the House for the ethics report and was going to publicly air all that during the confirmation hearing. Word from the House is that he resigned not because of the AG pick, but to prevent the release of the ethics report too.
People are now thinking DeSantis will nominate Gaetz to replace Marco.
Gaetz and DeSantis are not friendly. I don't see that happening.

God works in mysterious ways.
Right now, the Republican front-runner for Governor in 2026 is FL Agricultural Commissioner, Wilton Simpson. Who as Senate President killed every pro-gun bill under the sun. And as a sitting rank-and-file member of the Senate, introduced the Parkland Gun Control bill in 2018.
Gaetz would be a far better choice for Governor regarding the Second Amendment.
As a FL state lawmaker, Gaetz introduced numerous pro-gun bills, including open carry.
Right now, the Republican front-runner for Governor in 2026 is FL Agricultural Commissioner, Wilton Simpson. Who as Senate President killed every pro-gun bill under the sun. And as a sitting rank-and-file member of the Senate, introduced the Parkland Gun Control bill in 2018.
