Negligent discharge at WPB gun show.

Before I got to the show today a gun went off at the table at the front door where guns are checked, & tie strapped. The attendee didn’t want the gun show employee who makes them safe to rack the slide, & said he’d do it. Somehow the gun went off, & something hit a few attendees at the door. The guy who’s supposed to check the guns didn’t feel well, & took a ride in the ambulance. Now there’s 10 deputies at the front door. GARY.

Wow, that sucks. How did people react?

I was at a gun show in Atlanta a few years ago when a negligent discharge caused a brief stampede by people thinking it was an active shooter event (it even made the news). It's easy to laugh at this stuff, but it's pretty scary when it happens to you.

He had an AD taking it out of his holster and fired a round straight into the concrete. The round fragmented and hit at least 4 people- two went to the hospital with very minor injuries and were released.

We got there around 1pm and saw no sign of this.

Unlike Miami, there are no metal detectors at this show, so I am mystified why any concealed carrier ever declares a gun there. Any gun you declare should be unloaded, obviously (well I guess not so obviously to this idiot).

How friggin hard is it to unload and clear your CCW before you even get out of your car? That way, if you ND no one has to even know unless you manage to shoot yourself.

Definitely happened...irony was when the shot went off, pretty much everyone in the room turned around looking at each other, then went back to what they were doing. They ended up switching doors to keep guests coming in since the original door was roped off as a crime scene while the deputies were investigating what happened.

Oh I certainly believe it happened, but nobody said a thing about it by 1pm, as we talked to quite a number of people. As you say, people had just moved on.

I had to be in Stuart at 8 AM, so I didn’t get to the show until 10:45. Since I went in the back vendor’s entrance, I missed the commotion at the front door. Decided to empty the lizard first, & that’s what all the guys were talking about in the john like a bunch of teenage girls. GARY
